Died on the 18/12/1944 aged 21 when the Armstrong Whitworth Albermale P1554 of No 42 O.T.U (Operational Training Unit) crashed whilst returning from a cross country exercise.
The altimeter had been wrongly set and the aircraft hit trees and a house.
Edward Bunting was the aircrafts navigator, and he was thrown out of the aircraft and killed. The rest of the crew survived.
He is buried in Gilroes Cemetery.
