He was the son of Thomas Cooper a farm labourer, born 1844 in Feltwell, Norfolk and his wife Emma Cooper (nee Mayes), born 1844 in Feltwell, Norfolk. Frederick was born in 1878 in Feltwell, Norfolk, his siblings were, Elizabeth, a domestic servant, born 1867, Thomas, a schoolboy, born 1871 and John, a schoolboy, born 1873, all his siblings were born in Feltwell, Norfolk, also residing with the family was his widower paternal grandfather, Thomas Cooper, a farm labourer, born 1805 in Feltwell, Norfolk, in April 1881 the family home was at Long Lane, Feltwell St. Mary and St. Nicholas, Norfolk. In April 1891 Frederick was employed as a farm servant and was residing in the family home at Feltwell, Norfolk, together with his parents and siblings, Thomas, a farm servant, John, a farm servant and William, a schoolboy, born 1886 in Feltwell, Norfolk. In March 1901 Frederick was employed as a farm horse keeper and was residing in the family home at Midley Avenue, Lakenheath, Suffolk, together with his wife, Violet May Cooper (nee Baxter), born 1879 in Feltwell, Norfolk and their children, Edna, born 1899 in Feltwell, Norfolk and Rowland, born 1901 in Lakenheath, Suffolk. In April 1911 Frederick was employed as a farm horseman and was residing in the family home at Snails Pit, Swaffham, Norfolk, together with his wife, Violet and children, Edna, a schoolgirl, Rowland, a schoolboy, Violet, born 1905, Eveline, born 1907 and Christabell Emma, born 1909, the latter three children were all born in Swaffham, Norfolk. Two further children were born, these being, John A., born 1912 in Swaffham, Norfolk and Edith M. A., born 1915 in Oakham, Rutland. Prior to Frederick’s enlistment he had been a wagoner. He embarked for France on the 6th January 1916, and was wounded in the leg whilst working with an officer on a trench howitzer. The officer was also wounded and taken to a dressing station, upon returning for Frederick, he was found to be missing, this took place on the 1st March 1916.Frederick’s family were not notified until Easter Sunday morning 1917 of his death.
