Raymond was serving as a Navigator /Wireless Operator at 8 Operational Training Unit.

Killed whilst flying in De Havilland Mosquito ll DZ253 which broke up in mid-air 1 mile E of Pennan, Aberdeen following a structural failure of the wing while recovering from a dive during a training flight from RAF Dyce, Aberdeen.


At the time of his death he was 22 years old and he is buried in Welford Road Cemetery in Section C Grave 59.
