he was serving as a Pilot Instructor at 2 Flying Instructors School, Montrose, Angus.

He was killed whilst flying in Miles Master ll DL415 from Montrose, Angus which flew into high ground at Nathro Lodge near Craigendowie during an instrument training flight.

At the time of his death he was 23 years old and he is buried in Welford Road Cemetery in Section C Grave 153.
