Son of Mrs Sarah Ann Bradford, of Orton on the Hill

Source: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland.
He was the son of Emanuel Bradford a blacksmith, born 1857 in Glascote, Warwks., and his wife Sarah Ann, born 1858 in Carlton, Market Bosworth, Leics. George was born in 1891 in Orton on the Hill, Leics., his siblings were, Emanuel, born 1883 in Polesworth, Warwks., Laura, born 1885, Joseph, born 1888, Mabel, born 1895, Hilda, born 1897 and Ernest, born 1899, the latter five siblings were all born in Orton on the Hill, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Main Street, Orton on the Hill, Leics. In April 1911 George was working at home in the family shop and was residing in the family home at Orton on the Hill, Leics., together with his widowed mother a shop keeper, and his siblings Elsie, born 1894 in Orton on the Hill, Leics., and Ernest. It is a possibility that George was wounded and taken prisoner and therefore was one of the many reported missing after the bitter fighting that took place on the 21st and 22nd March 1918 in the Vaulx-Morchies Line, subsequently dying in captivity.
