He was the son of David Blower an iron plater, born 1853 in Pleck, Walsall, Staffs., and his wife Harriet, born 1855 in Seckington, Warwks. William was born in 1887 in Leicester, his siblings were Harry, born 1879, George, born 1880 and Elizabeth, born 1883, the latter three siblings were all born in Wednesbury, Staffs., Emma, born 1890 in Leicester, in April 1891 the family home was at 42, Edwyn Street, Leicester, in the Ecclesiastical Parish of St. Saviour. In March 1901 William was employed as a chemist’s assistant and was residing in the family home at 42, Edwyn Street, Leicester, together with his parents and siblings, Harry, George, Elizabeth, Emma, Harriett, born 1892 and Alice, born 1896, the latter two siblings were both born in Leicester, also residing with the family was his nephew William Vemon, born 1896 in Drayton Bassett, Staffs. In April 1911 William was employed as a tailor and was residing in the family home at 25, Bushby Street, Leicester, together with his parents and siblings, Harriet and Alice. His elder brother George also fell in action.
