He was the son on Alfred Duchemin Carpenter a bookseller and stationer’s assistant, born 1860 in Islington, Middx., and his wife Lizzie, born 1863 in Arnesby, Leics. Albert Matthias was born in 1888 in Leicester, his siblings were, Walter Duchemin Carpenter, born 1883, Adelaide Louisa, born 1884, Lilian Alice, born 1885 and George Duchemin Carpenter, born 1891, all his siblings were born in Leicester, in April 1891 the family home was at 20, Sutherland Street, Leicester. In March 1901 Albert was employed as a draper’s office boy and was residing in the family home at 40, Evington Road, Kingston Road, Leicester together with his father, now a bookseller and printer’s manager, his mother and siblings, Walter, Adelaide, Lilian, George, Annie Elizabeth, born 1893, Ida, born 1894, Constance Marie, born 1897, Edith Emma, born 1898, Alfred, born 1899 and Dorothy Katherine, born 1901, the latter six siblings were all born in Leicester. In April 1911 Albert was employed as a hosiery manufacturer’s ledger clerk and was residing in the family home at 29, Beaumont Road, Leicester, together with his widowed father and siblings, Adelaide, George, Annie, Ida, Constance, Edith, Alfred, Dorothy, Margaret Eleanor, born 1903, Winifred Gladys, born 1904 and Florence Violet, born 1907, the latter three siblings were all born in Leicester.
