He was the son of Edward Henry Teasdale, a hosiery manufacturer, born 1854 in Manchester, Lancashire and his wife Fanny Henrietta Knox (nee Sedley, married on the 5th September 1892 in St. John the Divine Church, Leicester), born 1855 in Berthampore, India. Edward George was born in the 1st quarter of 1885 in Leicester, and was baptised on the 19th February 1885 in St. John the Divine Church, Leicester. In March 1901 Edward was absent from the family home at Leicester Road, Kibworth Harcourt, Leicestershire, residing there was his mother and brother Eric Henry Janson, born in the 2nd quarter of 1896 in Leicester and baptised on the 19th May 1896 in St. John the Baptist Church, Leicester, Edward was residing as a boarder and pupil at King’s School, Canterbury, Kent. In April 1911 Edward was absent from the family home at Leicester Road Kibworth Harcourt, residing there was his father, an underwear manufacturer, his mother and brother Eric, a schoolboy, Edward was engaged as a farm pupil and was residing as a visitor at Upton, Banbury, Oxfordshire. On the 30th October 1912 at Kibworth Harcourt, Edward’s father died aged 58. Edward was awarded the British War and Victory medals. His younger brother Eric Henry Janson also lost his life in January 1917.
