The War Diary entry for the 3rd June 1916 records. CAMP “T”. At 6.00am 2 NCO’s and 22 men reported to R.S.O. PESELHOEK as before. At 9.00am 4 men proceeded to CAMP “J” for fatigues. “B” Company parades. At 7.00pm 3 NCO’s and 10 men road repairing. At 8.00pm “A” Company were detailed to reclaim a communication trench from BARNSLEY ROAD to a new trench which the WEST YORKSHIRE REGT were attacking. The attack was successful and at 11.00pm the Company started work. Owing to a mistake on the part of the ROYAL ENGINEERS Guides they were taken to the wrong communication trench and the mistake was not discovered until 12.15am, when there was very little time left for work. At 8.30pm A party of 1 officer, 2 NCO’s and 24 men of D” Company assisted and carried wire for the ROYAL ENGINEERS wiring party in connection with the above attack. Casualties, 1 man killed and 1 wounded.
