He was the son of George and Mary Gudgeon, and the husband of Ethel Gudgeon nee Askin, he left three daughters, Maisie, Vera and Hazel, the youngest Hazel being little more than a year old when her father died. The 7th April 1917 edition of the Leicester Mercury published the following under the heading, “LOCAL MEN IN THE CASUALTY LISTS.” KILLED – Sherwood Foresters, Pte. Gudgeon W. 67007 (South Wigston) (Previously reported wounded).
