He was the son of Benjamin Holloway of Worcester. Edwin worked as a groom at Eaton Grange and lodged in Branston by Belvoir, Leics., emigrating to Canada in 1912. He was killed in action during the second Battle of Ypres. His enlistment documents record that he gave his father Benjamin Holloway of the National Provincial Bank, Worcester as his next of kin. He gave his trade or calling as a Clerk and stated that he was unmarried. Information taken from his medical examination shows that he was 5 foot 8 inches in height and had a chest measurement of 32 ½ to 35 ½ inches. His complexion was described as fair with greenish eyes and light brown hair. It was noted he had a mole on his left loin and a vaccination mark on his left arm. He gave his religion as Church of England.
