He was the son of Harriet Pedley, a Widow of Private Means, born 1852 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, and the late Alfred Pedley. Bernard was a Bank Clerk, born 1895 in Crick, Northamptonshire. He had three siblings, Lavinia, an Elementary Teacher, born 1879, Margaret, born 1891 and Edgar, a Manuafacturing Chemist, born 1891, like Bernard all his siblings were born in Crick, Northamptonshire. At the time of the 1911 Census the family were resident at 45, Glenfield Road, Leicester.
