HE WAS THE ONLY MELTON MOWBRAY PERSON TO BE AWARDED THE
VICTORIA CROSS IN WORLD WAR II
AT THE AGE OF 20 WHEN HE WAS COMPANY RUNNER IN THE
1ST BATTALION OF THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON REGIMENT IN ITALY IN OCTOBER 1944
