Family gravestone for Pte (later Cpl) William Bees VC of the 1st Battalion Derbyshire Regiment (which later became the Sherwood Foresters). William was mentioned in the Gazette of 17th December 1901, which recalled his bravery in obtaining water for injured comrades while under attack at Moedwil, South Africa on 30th September 1901.
