The King's England page 258 writes there is a "memorial to Victor Ewart, a lieutenant on the battleship Queen Mary, and an only child. At the Battle of Jutland, he commanded a turret on the Queen Mary, and having fought his guns to the last, he surrendered his slender chance of life by returning into his turret to help his men".
