He was the son of Ernest Pike Bradshaw a heel trimmer in the shoe trade, born 1875 in Leicester and his wife Louisa, born 1876 in Leicester. Edward Wilmot was born in 1899 in Leicester, in March 1901 he was residing in the family home at 114, Grasmere Street, Leicester. In April 1911 Edward was a scholar and was residing in the family home at 59, Berners Street, Leicester, together with his parents and siblings, Frederick Horace, born 1902, Elsie, born 1904, Lucie, born 1906, Leonard, born 1910 and Arthur, born 1911, all his siblings were born in Leicester.
