He was the son of Thomas Hubbard, a house painter and paper hanger, born 1873 in Leicester and his wife Annie Hubbard (nee Smith, married q4 1897 in the Leicester district), born 1877 in Leicester. Eric Harold was born on the 11th September 1898 in Leicester, he had one sibling, a sister, Frances E., born 1901 in Leicester, in March 1901 the family home was at 175, Humberstone Road, Leicester. In April 1911 Eric was residing as a lodger at Queen’s Road, Sutton on Sea, Lincs., together with his father a house painter. The family later resided at 73, Berners Street, Leicester, and then at The Bungalow, Brookfield Street, Syston, Leics. Eric died from disease.
