He was the son of John William Peet, a house painter, born 1863 in Oakham, Rutland, and his wife Caroline Alice (nee Lucas, married Q2 1885 in the Leicester district), born 1866 in Leicester. Wilfred Harold was born on the 13th June 1897 in Leicester, his siblings were, Edith E., a cardboard box maker, born 1886, Nellie, born 1889, William James, born 1891, Miriam Elsie, born 1896 and Lilian A., born 1893, all his siblings were born in Leicester, in March 1901 the family home was at 129, Mount Road, Spinney Hill, Leicester. In April 1911 Wilfred was a schoolboy and was residing in the family home at 24, Flint Street, Leicester, together with his parents and siblings, William, a printer, Lilian. a boot trade machinist, Miriam, a boot trade machinist, Reginald Harold, born 1902 and Frances Ethel, born 1905, the latter two siblings were both born in Leicester. Wilfred enlisted on the 16th June 1915 and embarked to join the British Expeditionary Force in France on the 6th August 1917, joining his unit, the Nelson Battalion on the 27th September 1917, he was posted to the 7th Entrenching Battalion on the 22nd February 1918, and then posted to the 1st Royal Marine Battalion on the 14th March 1918, serving with this unit until suffering a gun shot wound to his left arm on the 24th March 1918, and being invalided back to England on the 29th March 1918. He embarked to join the British Expeditionary Force in France on the 31st July 1918, joining the Hawke Battalion on the 27th August 1918 and serving with this unit until reported wounded and missing, later reported died of wounds on the 3rd September 1918.
