ContributePolished Aberdeen granite obelisk surmounting square pedestal with two tiered base. Whole on stone steps in fenced off area of green. Cost about 200 pounds. Unveiled March 1920 by Mayor of Leicester, Ald Jabez Chaplin. The local history group found out that some time ago (uncertain date) the when the memorial was taken apart for conservation and the plinth sent to a mason, the obelisk was cracked when it returned. The mason then repaired it and the crack is still visible.
