White marble tablet with incised black lettering, set on black frame. It features an officer's helmet and crossed swords surmounting the head. The main tablet is supported on carved lions' paws, with the sphinx badge of the regiment at the tablet's head. The sphynx's face is partially covered by the feathers from the helmet, presumably as a mourning gesture.
