Memorial hall, opened in February 1964, with commemorative metal plaque on wooden frame located inside the building

View Further Details Memorial Type:Hall or Institute, Tablet or Plaque or Board Ref: WMP0460 Other Designation: No Notes: Extract from local newspaper August 28th 1964: 'In February of this year the Memorial Hall was opened- the first of a three stage section development which to date with car-parking facilities has cost over £6000. During the war years a Village Hall Fund was commenced, but at the cessation of hostilities a village meeting decided to turn the fund over that of a Memorial Hall project, with the passing over of accumulated funds at this time. Both generous donations and great local fund-raising efforts saw the culmination in February of the opening of a hall, which it has taken 19 years to acquire. The Memorial Hall Committee have now handed over to a management committee, of which Mr Tarratt is chairman, soundly served by members of the old committee merged with representatives of every section of the community'.
