WHO DIED AT CORFU COMMANDING HBM TENTH REGIMENT OF INFANTRY
ON THE 2ND OF AUGUST 1836 AGED 45 YEARS
HE SERVED IN THE 43RD (OR MONMOUTHSHIRE) LIGHT INFANTRY
(ONE OF THE REGIMENTS OF THE LIGHT DIVISION OF THE ARMY)
IN ALL THE CAMPAIGNS OF THE PENINSULAR WAR
FROM 1808 TO 1814
HE WAS PRESENT DURING THAT EVENTFUL PERIOD
IN THE BATTLES AND SIEGES OF
VIMIERA CORUNNA BUSACO
FUENTES D�ONOR CUIDAD RODRIGO BADAJOS VITTORIA NIVELLE NIVE TOULOUSE
AND LOST HIS RIGHT ARM AT THE STORMING OF BADAJOS
THIS TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF A DISTINGUISHED SOLDIER
AND SINCERE FRIEND
IS ERECTED BY HIS BROTHER OFFICERS
BY WHOM A MONUMENT HAS BEEN PLACED OVER HIS REMAINS
