He was the son of Robert and Mary Ann Radford. The War Diary for today records that the Battalion was in the front line. At 6.00pm an amendment to Operational Order number 222 received as to gas to be discharged at ZERO if wind was favourable. 7.15pm Battalion Operational Order 17/30 issued as to relief of front and support Company’s during raid 9.25 – 10.50pm. Raid by A and D Company’s on Quarries. For full particulars see appendix 24. At 1.00pm Battalion Operational Order number 17/31 issued as to relief by 2nd Sherwood Foresters. Casualties, other ranks A Company 1 killed, 6 wounded and 1 missing. C Company 2 wounded. D Company 9 wounded and 1 missing.
